In
order to optimize the Eternity Medicine skin program, all four pillars of the
wellness program, detoxification,
exercise,
nutrition
and mind-body
health, are important for the skin. In addition, Nutraceuticals, especially
the anti-oxidants
and omega-3-fatty acids are vital. A number
of other nutrients like vitamin C Ester, Alpha Lipoic Acid, DMAE, polyethylphosphatidyl
choline, super vitamin E, Co enzyme Q10 and olive oil have been added (see below
for more information on these nutrients). These ingredients have been shown to
decrease the free radical damage and membrane pro-inflammatory chemicals that
digest collagen resulting in wrinkles. Hormonal balance is also a key for the
skin and radiant beauty thus it is important to optimize any skin program with
bioidentical hormones. All four steps are designed
to decrease inflammation in the body-a key factor in aging and the production
of wrinkles. The free radical theory is the most widely accepted theory of aging.
Free radicals are atoms or molecules that are missing one of their two electrons.
They are unstable and will try and take another electron from any nearby molecule,
leaving damage in its wake. The process is in fact a cyclical threefold process: 1.
A burst of free radicals attacks the cell plasma membrane 2. The cell plasma
membrane produces proinflammatory chemicals. 3. These proinflammatory chemicals
produce more free radicals. As
a result of these proinflammatory chemicals collagen is digested, this results
in microscars that leads to wrinkles. Eternity
Medicine has already covered diet
and nutrition, exercise
and nutritional supplements. Skin
Care: 1. Vitamin C Ester: This
consists of basic vitamin C joined with palmitic acid, a fatty acid derived from
palm oil. The antioxidant power of vitamin C ester at the cell plasma membrane
provides key protection. Research by Procter and Gamble shows that vitamin C ester
is absorbed more quickly and achieves seven times higher levels in the skin than
basic vitamin C. 2. Alphal
lipoic acid (ALA): This universal antioxidant is both water and fat-soluble.
This means that ALA is easily absorbed through the skin and works well as a free
radical fighter, both in the cell plasma membrane and in the watery interior of
the cell. 3. DMAE: Loss
of skin tone and sagging is due in part to the decline of neuro-transmitters like
acetylcholine that stimulate muscle contraction. As we age we lose this tone,
which results in sagging skin. Studies have shown that DMAE-lotion will tone your
shin for 18-24 hours and will cause an immediate reduction in lines and wrinkles.
4. Polyenylphosphatidyl Choline (PPC): PPC offers protection to the cell
plasma membrane. This unsaturated molecule with its double bonds can rapidly penetrate
the skin and soften it while acting as a powerful anti-inflammatory. PPC is a
natural moisturizer. PPC reduces flaking and fissures in a matter of days. 5.
Tocotrienols-super vitamin E: This fat soluble nutrient is a powerful antioxidant
and moisturizer. Vitamin E is made up of two separate categories, tocopherols
and tocotrienols. This new super vitamin E is proving significantly stronger as
an anti-oxidant. It is able to make hair shinier, reduces redness and flaking
in dry skin and prevents nails from cracking.
6. Olive Oil: I have already mentioned the important role of extra virgin
olive oil in your diet. However since ancient times olive oil has been used
as an emollient and massaged on the skin. The Romans are recorded as having beautiful
skin thanks to olive oils powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
Polyphenols in olive oil is stable and protective. The most powerful polyphenol
is hydroxytyrosol which gives a smoother and more radiant skin. BOTOX:
Botox is nothing short of a major breakthrough in fighting the aging process.
Safe, effective, non-invasive, yet long lasting. A pediatric opthalmologist Dr.
Alan Scott first pioneered working with the drug to treat problems relating to
the eyes in the 1970's. In 1992 a husband and wife opthalmologist/dermatologist
team first published their using Botox for cosmetic reasons. From here, the field
of Botox advanced rapidly. In
2001 there were over 1.6 million Botox injections in the US. alone. Botox received
FDA approval on April 15, 2002. We select clients either for a deep chemical peel
or Botox to smooth wrinkles from the skin, once a client has followed the anti-aging
program for a few months. Botox is one of the few rejuvenative treatments that
can benefit patients of almost any age. Botox is also truly a preventative procedure
against aging. Botox will prevent the wrinkles that result from a habit of constantly
frowning or raising the eyebrows. Cell Therapy: Cellusana
Cosmetic treatment using the Cellusana fresh cell extract cosmetics is a scientifically
tested, biological treatment that uses juvenile components to repair and rejuvenate
damaged cells and cell structures. The absorption of fresh cell extracts in and
through the skin has been well documented, as has their epithelialising effect.
An application a day helps promote the longevity, beauty and toning of your skin
and reduces the negative effects of stress, sun, pollution and aging. |
